In my own perspective, being equipped with effective communication skills enables you to convey your ideas, through various channels, across to the intended audience comprehensively, without causing any misunderstanding and offense. To me, these skills are very important and useful as there are numerous instances in which my lack of such skills resulted in undesirable situations.
One notable instance would be the problems that I encountered during my job search prior to entering the University. My search for a job was an arduous attempt, made so as a result of my inadequate skills at writing effective resumes and presenting myself in front of an audience. I realized that possessing both effective oral and written communication skills are vital in presenting a good first impression to potential employers.
Furthermore, in my various attempts at corresponding with different parties, I have come to realize the ease at which the slightest of poor body languages and tone can be all it takes for a great deal of misunderstandings. It is therefore the reason why I myself, along with many others around me, place high emphasis on a good set of communication skills as a means of accurately and concisely relating our thoughts to others.
